Nature's Words: Publications “What the warming world needs now is art, sweet art. We can register what is happening with satellites and scientific instruments, but can we register it in our imaginations, the most sensitive of all our devices?” - Bill McKibben “All of us have to learn how to invent our lives, make them up, imagine them. We need to be taught these skills; we need guides to show us how. If we don’t, our lives get made up for us by other people." - Ursula K. Le Guin, A Wave in the Mind “We are only beginning to scratch the surface of the power of a positive vision of an abundant future: one which is energy-lean, time-rich, less stressful, healthier and happier. Being able to associate images and a clear vision with how a powered down future might be is essential.” - Rob Hopkins, co-founder of the Transition Movement Helen's second poetry collection, ECOZOA, was published in March 2015 by Permanent Publications. Helen has also written two children's books, Hope and the Magic Martian and Hope and the Super Green Highway. They were beautifully illustrated by Louise Rouse and published by Lollypop Publishing, but are sadly now out of print... 10 year-old Hope is keen to meet a Martian and a Martian boy with a big heart wants to know why Earth's polar caps are melting. At the North Pole, the new friends hear the Arctic animals' stories about their warming world. What can Hope do? At a time when the future can seem uncertain, this modern fable offers a loving vision of how we can all change the story that shapes our world. ‘Hope and the Super Green Highway’ is Helen Moore’s brilliant page turning sequel to ‘Hope and the Magic Martian’…. Warm, intelligent, inspiring and thought provoking, this story is ideal for children from 8 to 12. It should be in every primary school.” – Eric Maddern, storyteller and author “Principle without preaching.” – Hugh Montgomery, author
of The Voyage of the Arctic Tern and Cloudsailors Some reflections on self-publishing... 2003-2011 Taking the means of production into her own hands and situating herself in the great tradition of poets such as William Blake and Emily Dickinson, Helen found the freedom to publish writing and produce audio CDs that were her unique response to the world in which she found herself. Unlike many authors, it also gave her the possibility of using sustainably produced materials, such as recycled papers, and of printing on demand. Her poetry books (now collector's items!) were designed to be artist's books, with hand-stitching and decoration with a bead on the spine for easy identification on bookshelves. In 2006 Helen launched her first non-fiction, illustrated title, Changing Nature: Eco-Notes of a Digital Woman, under GreenSeer Books. She also published her poetry under the Henwen Publications imprint – more below. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- CD --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Changing Nature - EcoNotes of a Digital Woman With a foreword by Jill Attenborough of the Woodland Trust A country diary in a changing climate Click
